If I recall correctly, Joe's contention was that pointers are not
needed in RB and that they would (and do in other languages) cause
problems when used incorrectly. It seems to me that even though Joe
has left RS, the company is still toeing to that line. I believe the
Ptr class that was discussed in this thread is a variation on the
MemoryBlock ptr property that has existed for as long as I can
remember. A quick look in the Language Reference seems to support
that. As far as I know, RB's Ptr class is there only to provide
support for declares, just as it always was as a MemoryBlock property.
I hope Joe or somebody else who's better informed than I am will
correct anything I've misstated.

Erm...

So RS finally caved in, and added the very same feature that before
they said was "Evil" (to use Mr Strout's words), would totally break
RB's design and would never appear in RB?
