Does anyone know if there any guidelines for performance on
MinimumSocketsAvailable and MaximumSocketsConnected? I am troubleshooting an
issue and am beginning to suspect it's related to these values.

Download 'ab' and benchmark you app. You should quiet easily figure out,
where the limit is.

The software is deployed in environments ranging from 5 concurrent
connections up to 500 concurrent connections.

I'm pretty sure, that 500 concurrent connections in much too big.

Should I adjust MinimumSocketsAvailable based on the size of average load

This might be a good option.

Since I control logins to my server separate from MaximumSocketsConnected, is there a memory/performance danger in setting it to some large number like
10,000?

Wouldn't do that. If you set the upper limit too high, your server
could probably generate more socket and then release old ones - and thus
start swapping.

As fart as I figured out, establishing connections is very slow compared
to Apache.
