Thanks for the info. I did notice that certain applications won't  
even respond to System Events. I went to apple's web site where I  
downloaded an apple script to simulate menu item selections. It  
worked on the basic Mac apps, but didn't work with Realbasic. I find  
that really weird, especially since I used to the Apple Accessibility  
Inspector and was able to get values for both Mac apps as well as  
Realbasic. I still have a suspicion that I am till doing something  
wrong.
