I seem to be able to create ContainerControl subclasses
(subclasses of container control I created) but when I do the
resulting class does not have a ContainerControl icon and when i
put it on a window in the IDE it is "invisible" ... but when I run
the project the control is there...
So the subclassing seems to work but the IDE/Window Layout Editor
does not know how to handle it .. which makes it [subclasses of
user created ContainerControls] very hard to use and almost
worthless.
Is subclassing container controls not supported, or is it an IDE bug?
Anyone from RS care to chime in? I posted this on the forum too and
Aaron offered an opinion but said he did not really know.
It should be supported. We use this technique ourselves in the 2006
IDE itself. If there's something not working, please file a report
with some easy steps to reproduce -- I had a hard time figuring out
what exactly you were doing above, which is why I didn't reply the
first time :)
Thanks!
