Hi Cindy,
It sounds to me like you're copying the data fork of the file, but
not the resource fork. I would compare both files using a resource
editor (such as ResEdit under Classic) to see if your destination app
contains any resources and has its file flags set properly.
Just a guess,
Steve

Hi All,
Just wondered if somebody could help me with. I'm trying to copy a
file
across the network using a tcp socket. The file I'm copying is a
REALbasic
compiled application. If I use folderitem.macreator, the file comes
across
as a document. If I add folderitem.mactype and set this as APPL
(which is
the same as the original file) it comes across as a Mac OS 9
application.
How would I bring the file across so it stays with exactly the same
icon and
opens as a Mac OS X application as it should. I'll also need this
to behave
properly with Windows and Mac OS 9.
Can somebody please tell me what I'm missing here?
Thanks.
Cindy
