You must remember that much of the speed in later 5.5 versions was gained by optimizing the code.
The major 5.x speed optimization occurred in 5.2. It was huge! I hope they can do it again soon for the 200x series. (In addition to whatever bump we'll eventually get from a UB IDE on Intel.)
