Yes, though the details probably depend on the OS. But when using a mask, the
system has to actually blend pixels; this is much more complicated than either
overwriting or not.
Just remember, as long as your FPS is faster than the monitor refresh rate, it
doesn't matter.

Ahh.. I see. I figured something like that.
Well, my app is a "novelty" app if you will. I want it to draw the
images as fast as it can. Using the mask you can see that it is
drawing slower or not drawing as many as it would with just transparent.
I put the FPS in as a benchmark thingy, most just for curious wanting to
know the stats.
However my app may not be the most sophisticated at benchmarking.
