I remember having a lot of difficulty making a scrolling canvas work
with a backdrop and embedded controls as I thought it should. The
issue was solved when I covered the entire canvas with an imagewell,
in which I embedded the backdrop and controls (pushbuttons,
bevelbuttons, editfields.) The x,y coords reported back from an
imagewell make it much easier to use the scrollbar, as a bonus.

Aren't you glad I'm finding all this out for you? Here are the rules
so far:
- No Composite windows.
- You must have Visible set to true.
- You have to set the parent of your new control to the canvas upon
which it will be scrolled.
- The control must be visible in the window by even the smallest
amount (a single pixel).
I'm going back to bed now.
