Now I realize that a better answer would probably be: No, because RB lets you compile this: Dim rc as new rectcontrol So, what would be a good example? Say, you want to create a world simulation program (anyone?). The first class you create might be called "thing". The thing-class has, say, a weight property. But you don't want it to be instantiable because things aren't just things they are "umbrellas", "phone bills" and such. The umbrella-class should inherit from the thing class somewhere down the line. To prevent you from accidently saying dim MyUmbrella as new thing you give the thing class a private constructor. -> Maximilian Tyrtania | [EMAIL PROTECTED] fischerAppelt Kommunikation GmbH Tucholskystr. 18 | D-10117 Berlin | Germany Tel. ++49-30-726146-728 | Fax ++49-30-726146-710 www.fischerAppelt.de _______________________________________________________________ +++mamamoto, die Initiative von Ligalux für ein neues Familienbild, ist am 10.
