Hi Jay
Yep - right on the money. It would cost us money/time to develop a postgres installer that I could give back to the postgres community. Which would be generous thing to do and it may be a great advertisement for RS. However, for us at least, we need to focus our efforts on our app and let the back end database take care of itself.
I made a mistake on the figure. 200 clients by $500 gives you a budget of $100,000 USD, about 1650 hours @ 60 per hour, to build an installer for postgres. I estimate it would take no longer than 160 hours to produce, and a postgres installer would likely be produced within 40 hours. While Real SQL Server is a good choice, Postgres has a much higher return on investment in the long term. -- Keith Hutchison http://balance-infosystems.com http://realopen.org _______________________________________________ Unsubscribe or switch delivery mode: <http://www.realsoftware.com/support/listmanager/> Search the archives of this list here: <http://support.realsoftware.com/listarchives/lists.html>
