thanks for the replies. I wrote myself a test application for this problem and that application works without problems. The application that has the problem has just been converted from RB 5.5 to RB2006r3 and is a little more complex. I found out, that I have no problem in this application if I start it from a shell window. The problem occurs only when it is started from konqueror. Looks like I'll have to do some further investigation.
