In German speaking countries week # 1 is the week that contains

In the US week #1 is the week that contains January 1.

I'm in neither of them, but it's good to know.

So the WeekOfYear is not a worldwide consistent value.

MacOS and Windows week calculations are based on the US
system only.

That's a shame.

Additionally, of course the week starts on Sunday in the
US and on Monday in most European countries.

If you need to show a WeekOfYear, you need to do your own
calculation.

So the WeekOfYear, for the entire world, has a little use?

Yes, until all countries adopt the International Standard ISO 8601.

Form this document "A summary of the international standard date and
time notation" (about ISO 8601) you can read:
<http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/iso-time.html>
- A week starts with Monday (day 1) and ends with Sunday (day 7).
- ISO 8601 has been adopted as European Standard EN 28601 and is
therefore now a valid standard in all EU countries and all conflicting
national standards have been changed accordingly.

Thank you very much, very interesting.

However, I continue to think that RB (that is to say, the OS, especially MacOS X where Internationalization is a big part) should have a way to accept the International Standard ISO 8601._______________________________________________
