I have a product that I will distribute on disc. The data is a
collection of files that I want to install on a user's machine in one
the
/Library/ folders. I could just use packagemaker, but I want to the
user to
register. I then want to incorporate some of the user data back into the
files that they install.
I imagine that I could create a custom application that accepts
user
info (name, date, serial number), connects to a MySql server,
validates the
serial number and then uses the newly entered information to augment the
files I transfer to the drive.
Does this strategy seem like I'm re-inventing the wheel, or does
someone
already know of a solution?
