Global Keyboard Shortcuts?

Does anyone know how to register for Global keyboard shortcuts on the  
Macintosh OS X (such as Expose and Spotlight).  That way when anyone  
enters the keyboard combination from any application, my app would be  
able to do something.  Any ideas?
