Console applications work well also. They run with a minimal
distribution no X11, etc. 310MB footprint for the core distribution.
I use Debian Sarge and have had no issues so far.
I have several products that are RB on Linux, work on embedded
systems, full blown servers, and desktops.
I am very happy with the system, as with anything there are aspects
that could be better.
Overall I think RB on Linux is a great thing and will gain momentum
over time.
I also disagree with another post that RB needs to support other
processors than x86 to have an impact. The vast majority of Linux is
x86, all the other architectures together are a very small
percentage. Except embedded systems where x86 is only 30% of the
market, even then it is not difficult to find embedded systems that
are compatible. Servers, desktops and VM architectures are the
overwhelming majority of Linux and they are overwhelmingly x86 based.

Sorry, but I'm not up-to-date on Linux lingo, but...
I noticed that when you want a project built for Linux in RB
2006r4, you check the checkbox for "Linux with GTK+ 2.x"
What does that mean, exactly? Also, do Linux builds only run on
x86 processors?
Thanks,
