Unfortunately all it seems to do is open it in what looks like a
special IDE script editing window in RB. Same thing as if I double
click the file in the Finder.

Sorry, I don't know about that.  But see if you can get your utility to
directly launch the .rbs file... I *think* (though I'm not sure) that
doing so may cause the IDE to execute it.  Or maybe it'll just open it.
Worth a try, anyway.
