Wow, I am impressed. Quite cool. You really should try to get RS to
buy this from you.
Also, it would be extremely cool, if you could export to pdf.

The 1st beta release of the formatted text control (formally
called the formatted text project) is now available for download.
With this release, you may now purchase licenses to use this code
in your projects. Please read the README file in the demo package
before purchasing.
Previously I stated that the pricing for this software was $300
for encrypted files and $600 for non-encrypted files. Upon further
reflection, the encrypted files option just doesn't make sense for
several reasons. The main reason is that it will be detrimental to
your development having to always dance around the encryption. The
formatted text control is internally a very complex and highly
optimized piece of coding. If you are going to use it on a
project, you will want the full flexibility the exposed source
code provides. The code is very easy to use and provides a lot of
helper functionality that you will want to examine as you merge it
into your applications. So as a compromise, I have set the price
to $450 for unencrypted source files.
I have updated the support for international keyboards so that all
special characters like umlauts should now be displayed. If
someone wouldn't mind testing the special characters on their
keyboards under OS X and sending me an email, it would be
appreciated.
A big part of the focus of this release was increasing the typing
speed under OS X with Quartz rendering. In general typing speed
has increased by a factor of 2x compared to the previous alpha 8.
If QuickDraw is used, typing speed increased by a factor of 4x.
The test application is now a universal binary so the speed on the
Intel Macs is excellent.

What's new in this release...
- Support for international keyboards under OS X should now be
completely functional. No crashing and all the keys should work
properly.
- Significant optimizations were made to improve typing speed!
Typing response time should be much more zippy since the measured
speed has been doubled (compared to alpha 8) under OS X with
Quartz rendering.
- Added support for using QuickDraw to render the text. This makes
the typing speed extremely fast (4x faster compared to alpha 8),
but you sacrifice the sophistication of Quartz rendering. You can
set this at design time or programmatically. There are other
advantages to QuickDraw in that kerning is handled differently so
it is more consistent when styles are changing within the text.
- Added a background spell checking mechanism. You can initiate a
thread to go through the document and check the paragraphs for
spelling errors. Red underlines are used to indicate misspelled
words. Core spell checking software is not provided, only the
mechanism to automate the task. In the test application random
words are chosen to be marked as misspelled in order to
demonstrate the capability.
- You can now save and open a pure text document.
