In answer to a question over on the Forum I put together this list
of all the actual release dates since the Rapid Release model was
instituted.
It's noteworthy that RS has never missed an update date and they
have often provided updates MUCH more frequently when it was
needed. Everyone with a subscription has been getting their money's
worth, at least in terms of number of updates.
Rapid release plan announced 5/20/2005
2005r1 6/14/2005
2005r2 8/2/2005
2005r3 9/13/2005
2005r4 10/12/2005
2006r1 1/11/2006
2006r2 4/13/2006
2006r3 7/6/2006
2006r4 10/4/2006
Disregarding 2005, that probably had as many bugs as 5.0 as they were
both major changes in the Framework, the 2006 changes have had more
new features and bug fixes than any version I owned prior to 5.0. The
cost has gone up a bit but so has everything else so it still remains
relative.
The nice thing about the new release format is that Cocoa was
promised to be included by the end of this year. Even if it happens
in 90 days from r4's release it still would be acceptable to me. :)
