When filing bug reports to Real Software, I often struggle with how much
information I should supply on how to reproduce the problem. For Example:

I'm trying to get my RB2006rel4 Universal app to run when a Mac is booted
from a NetInstall image. You can burn the NetInstall System.dmg file to a
DVD and then boot from it and then launch your RB app on the DVD to do cool
system restore stuff.

After adding one missing framework to the NetInstall image (QuickTime),
launching the application results in an error (On a PowerPC Mac - the Intel
Mac reported a very similar error):

"Runtime Error 4: Failed Assertion

Location: /Volumes/RBUS/Common/plugin.cpp:
6870
Failure Condition: plugins
Failure Message:
Please report what caused this error along with all of the details above."
This is the exact error message on a PowerBook G4. Note that there is NO
failure message specified in the dialog message.

This exact same error occurs on a very simple RB 2006 rel 4 built Universal
application, so it's not my code.

Recreating this bug report will take installing Mac OS X Server, enabling
all of the stuff that supports NetBooting/NetInstalling, which the kind
folks at RealSoftware may or may not be able to do with time constraints I
realize. But doing so would be easy to do, actually.

I'm presenting at MacWorld SF in January 2007 on my application for system
imaging and deployment (PSU Blast Image Config), and I wanted to be able to
demonstrate a bootable DVD running my Universal RB built app running from
it, but on launch the error listed above occurs. Bummer!

Any thoughts on if it's even worth filing this bug due to the extent of the
setup? If not, any suggestions to try and work around this problem?

I've use "otool -L" to list the required frameworks and dependencies and
made sure that they're on the NetInstalled system, etc.

I realize that this might a tall order, but I should check just in case
there's something worth trying here...

Also, we (Penn State computing labs) want to use my app to re-image lots of
Macs when booted from DVD, and this would totally solve that issue for us.

I appreciate any help on this!

- Justin
