If you are considering alternatives, you should look at Valentina. The
licensing system was developed to be competitive with MySQL and with VDN you
can deploy the basic Embedded Server royalty free. It also has a flexible
Vclient system so that its possible to easily develop solutions that connect
from other development tools as well, not just REALbasic. There are simply
loads of features anyway in Valentina that you can also pitch as value
propositions for your product.

There isnt a free version of Valentina though - if free is the most
important thing for you, then its hard to beat PostgreSQL, which has almost
no licensing issues at all.
