Arrgghh. This gets me all the time.
Just resizing the window/pagepanel/tabpanel can cause this insidious resetting of the controls parent.

You don't see the problem until you resize the windwo inthe built app.

The way I had to check in the IDE was to individually click on all the 90+ controls and see if I get a 'double' red outline widget. This told me that the IDE had had automatically incorrectly reset the parent to a widget on another back pane that happened to be enclose the front control.

One keyboard up arrow and then one keyboard down arrow fixed it.

What a pain. I have to do this everyweek.

remember having had some controls in a tabpanel being magically appearing on
it's parent (the pagepanel), so for now if I can avoid such a situation I do
 feel better;)

The issue shows itself is when a control has the exact same size and
location (top, height and width) as a control on another tab/panel. The
problem seems to be that the control gets assigned the parent of another
control rather than the panel - thus when the control on the other panel is
hidden, the control is also hidden. When it is shown again, it now shows on
the panel on top of the other control.

The workaround is to offset the controls at least 1 pixel or to explicitly
declare the parent of each of these controls in the Open event as follows:

Me.parent = tabpanel1

I saw this exact issue in earlier versions of RB. I'm not sure if it's been
there all along or if the new UB r4 release has brought this issue out once
again.

I created a report. Please sign on:
