This concerns the text and style strings extracted from a multiline, styled EditField by reading the 'Text' and 'TextStyleData' properties. While the style data is inscrutable, I have for certain purposes been able to save the information in a binary file and recreate the EditField contents later, styles and all, by reading the binary file and using 'EditField.SetTextAndStyle'.

This would be dangerous if the format of the style information were to change with compiler updates, as the data file would be compiler- dependent. I have found that binary files produced by an application compiled with RB5.5 can be used by an application compiled with RB2006r3, and vice versa. With RB2006r4, it is another matter -- r4 data is incompatible with an application compiled with RB5.5 through RB2006r3, and vice versa. I suppose that either the format of the style data has changed or else there is a bug in the 2006r4 EditField.

Can anyone, perhaps someone from RS, tell me whether the format of 'EditField.TextStyleData' has been changed in RB2006r4, or whether there is a problem here that needs further investigation?
