I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure you can't edit compressed mp3 data in
the ditablemovie class, so you have to first convert it to another audio
format such as AIFF or WAV, or even just a regular QT audio track. Then
you should be able to use the various editablemovie functions and
QTSoundTrack.
I've used the third party QTPlugin and MBS plugin to do my exporting to
these formats.

Hi all,
REALbasic 2006 Release 4
Mac OS X 10.4.8
In an old project, I use to open a sound file (mp3, m4a, aiff, etc.) in an
EditableMovie, then I am able to select a part of the sound (using HH:MM:SS for
both start and end, see other report for the EditField Mask).
What I added yesterday evening was the ability to save in a Movie a part of the
file (the selected part). A true world's example is:
Load the song (original studio version) "Paint it, Black", The Rolling Stones),
Set start pos to 0,
Set end pos to 8 (that is the first 8 seconds of the song),
Click in a button and hear the selected part (the infamous 8 seconds intro);
Click in another button and save in a Movie the same 8 seconds; works fine
within QuickTime Player.
HERE’s MY QUESTION:
How can I save in a sound file (mp3, m4a, aiff, etc.) these seconds ?
I have watched carefully the FolderItem Class and QuickTime related Classes
(EditableMovie, QTTrack, etc.), but I didn't found what I was searching :(
Thank you for your attention and more thanks for every answers,
Greetings from France,
Emile
