I have never had the r4 PPC version crash on my MBP, although the UB version crashes regularly.
If anyone if having frequent crashes with the UB IDE it may be well worthwhile to download the PPC version and try it instead. Sometimes it's better to bet on the turtle instead of the rabbit. :-)
