I recall being told that dropping a control onto a window had the effect of creating a subclass. But certainly I cannot test for, say, an EditField1 outside the window in which I define it.
Perhaps. But there is no such loophole for the compiler's behavior regarding Window1, which it agrees isA Window1. At a minimum, it ought to behave consistently for the individual menuItem and the array.
