You must look on the RSIZE.
VSIZE is just the address space used and quite meaningless.

I understand that, but should it be growing (it got to 187M before I
killed the app)? Also, isn't the 11.7M in the RSIZE still a bit huge
for an application that is doing absoloutely nothing?
