I think you're right Fargo - If you look in Activity Monitor, some
(quite a lot) of the RAM is displayed as 'Inactive' after an app
closes, rather than all of it going to 'Free'.

I don't have a Mac handy to test on, but I know that linux will
cache files in RAM until the space is needed by something active or
it just expires. I know that OS X is built around a bsd layer, so I
imagine it might have similar memory management.
The first time I tripled the RAM in my Fedora Core server and saw
that memory usage was the same, I just about pulled my hair out.
Like I said, however, I don't know for sure that this happens in OS X.
Good luck,

Hi,
I have done some Memory check to my intel and UB compiled apps.
My app is an "Text Editor" and I have about 15 documents I could
open with a menu "Open All" and simply close with "Close All"..
Test:
Launch my app (only some palettes is opened) 16MB
Open All Documents and when all is opened the Memory usage is,
first time second time and so on..
65MB, 72MB, 77MB, 84MB, 88MB, 93MB, 98MB, 102MB, 104MB, 108MB, 111MB
When I opened all docs the first time the Mem Usage was 65MB and
the last time 111MB
When I close All documents the last time, the Memory usage was
about 70MB.. (16MB from start)
I use threads, timers, and Styled EditFields ...
Any ideas where to begin ... ??
Thanks..
Sven E
