To copy a file, you can also try:

an AppleEvent to the "Finder" (The Finder must be running, which is
almost the case; better than an AppleScript since scripts in RB do
not accept folderitems):

A second problem would be when the Finder is not running (someone may quit the Finder to get more free memory, for example). For both problems (the copy dialog, which reveals to the user that you copy using the Finder) and the fact that the Finder is not running, you may also use the shell class. It's up to you to decide, since it won't work for classic and also since you seem happy with using the Finder._______________________________________________
