If you look at the editfield in the IDE when making the mask, the leading literal appears in the editfield. On an IDE run, however, it is not there. This might be a bug.

Possibly
If literals are automatically added and removed when they were reached in the mask that would help and likely make the feature request unnecessary.
It's possible it might be some kind of bug or oversight that they don't.
It's been around a while then since 2005r4 does this as well.

I can still think of a reason you'd want an input mask and a display mask that were not the same
But that could be something you could handle on a lostFocus event
