Under Vista, many operations (that were allowed under XP) are
prohibited. For example, writing to C:\WINDOWS is now a no-no.
There are a number of ways to get your EXE to launch with admin
privileges. One way is to include the "manifest" resource in the
EXE, as described here:

A running app can tell if it's been launched using elevated
privileges using the technique here:

Is anyone willing to figure out how to get these two techniques
