I've got another windows-mac-related question I can't figure out.
I have a progress bar in a little status window, with some feedback text under it. When I export or import a file, I use this progress bar to keep user informed of what's going on. If I don't use refresh every time in my loop (for simplicity's sake, imagine a loop going through a 10,000 item array, writing out a line for each item), then the status bars never update. If I refresh the status bar and feedback text every loop, it works fine on mac, but flashes horrendously on windows.
What kind of strategy would people recommend to handle refreshing progress bars, that works on both platforms? What works? Is there a way to have it refresh only 1 x per second? Would that stop flashing on windows? It doesn't seem like a timer is going to help at all there.
