A quick follow-up.
When a window with tab-panels opens, does it automatically default to
tab "0"? And if not, is there a way to ensure a specific tab always
opens first?

Yes, this one. A tab panel is a single container which can be
viewed in segments. As with a window, if you need two listboxes you
must drag two listboxes or subclasses of listbox onto the tab panel.
