I've started using Windows XP on my Mac recently and now I frequently run into a situation I'm hoping a knowledgeable Windows user can help me with. When I launch the Remote Debugger Stub application in XP, I get a warning to the effect that its publisher is unknown, and is questionable trustworthiness. I have to click in the alert to get it to execute. I have also seen this with other applications that were not installed with an installer. My question: is there some way to tell Windows that this application (and others that I have not installed with an installer) are trustworthy so that I don't have to OK it every time I want to run the remote debugger?
This is a Microsoft issue. In order to get your application "registered" you have to jump through Microsoft hoops. Otherwise, that dlog is gonna pop up whether you use an installer or not. Hopefully, most people will just allow your app. Some, of course, won't.
