Definitely! After much similar deliberation this past summer, I've been working fairly successfully on a custom cursor class. What I've done is wrap the recordset within, extending the functionality by providing a standard API for my applications. I am now using my the replacement cursor class to transparently access data from recordsets and non-recordset oriented data sources.
