my crash always occurs at the moment a ctrl-click occurs to reveal a
contextual menu.  The crash log confirms (by looking at the names of
the functions called in the call chain) that the crash was in response
to invoking a contextual menu.

Next time it happens, I'll post an excerpt of the crash log.

Maybe we're talking about 2 different bugs then.

It's not necessarily related to contextual menus, I often have it happen
when RB starts compiling before a run, but it's happened to me at all sorts
of times. I've posted a bug report in the RB feedback area and attached my
crash logs. The bug report ID is lqcdpoyw. You should add your own comments
and logs, the more the better - anything to help them try and track this one
down.

In the meantime, I save every 20 minutes or so, then copying the source code
to a rotating series of backup folders so that if my source code is
corrupted by the crash, at least I haven't lost much...
