Having preferences for startup behavior is not necessarily
"incorrect." Something like "New Project"/"Open Dialog"/"Do
Nothing." The editors I use for the web, BBEdit and PageSpinner,
both do this. So, for that matter, does the venerable AppleWorks,
still alive and well on my machines.
While I might agree that it's down the totem pole of priorities, it
does not strike me as hugely difficult to implement, and certainly
not "nonstandard." And, while I've lived with it for some time, this
thread prompted me to gladly cast my vote.
