I searched for libipod at ipodlinux.org but I could not find it.

You wont find libipod there
Sorry for the lack of clarity in my message
Do a google search for libipod

The information at ipodlinux.org is useful if you want to read and write the ipods track listings and such directly. It can be done it's just a pain as the format is complex, differs based one version and is different for shuffles

But then I would not know how to call it via declares...

it's not so bad and I'm sure people here would help if you asked
