I fail to see where in any of RS's advertising and articles they have "hyped" RS capabilities. I have seen nowhere where they in any way suggest that RB is as suited performance wise to writing the most performance sensitive types of app - spreadsheets, core multimedia processing etc. even if this were in fact possible. They rightly advertise their strengths. In places they compare themselves with C/C++ - elsewhere against java and .Net. Nowhere have they suggested that RB is the developers solution to everything. In fact why would they supply an API to write plugins in another language C++ - if that were the case ?. > When in fact it's no good beyond a > certain size of project. >For small projects, RB is great. ( language wise IMO RB should aim to finish covering all the bases of C++ in order to attract as many existing C++ developers to the fold as possible ( along with their source code ) - and THEN move upwards in abstraction to incorporate the benefits of the latest useful language trends ) And lets face it, doing large projects in C++ aint much fun. Version control solutions and compiler optimizations will come along eventually. > For some people MacOSX's Mail would be a "medium" sized project, for > someone else it would be a large one. > > The RB language is actually a very mature language, far more than > Java or C++, a real pleasure to work in, so it's a shame that RS > haven't been taking their serious developers seriously.
