As a memory management technique I'd agree
As a "garbage collector" like Java's and other languages that have ways to collect "garbage" that is no longer reachable it's not the same

I suppose it's hair splitting but when people say "garbage collection" it's frequently meant "like Java's" which RB's is not

In most respects I don't care which is it as it makes my life easier regardless of how you've done it EXCEPT when I have some cycle of objects that maybe I lose drop the reference to (like a circularly linked list)
Then it is vastly different
