A few years ago, I googled cross-platform computer language for Mac
and Windows and found RB. After taking a look at it (a year later)
and seeing the great and necessary support from the NUG as RB's
documentation is (or was) lacking in many areas, I am extremely happy
with the decision to adopt RB as a development environment.

I was apprehensive about the move away from RB5.5.5 because of the
negative press sometimes received on this list. Now I think RB2007 is
far better than RB5.5.5 on Windows in terms of speed, stability and
productivity improvements introduced into the IDE that make navigating
code so much easier. I am currently using a 2 GHz MacBook and find
the Mac RB version is noticeably slower than the Windows version. So
if you want speed, use the Windows version.

I have for a long time looked out for negative comments or problems
with the post 5.5.5 RB and still do so on a daily basis even though no
coding was done during a 6 month period. I understand that you and
some others have issues with parts of the language and so make a
concious decision not to explore some areas of the language that need
fixing according to release notes. Hopefully RS will fix your issues
with the language in the near future.

For my purposes, RB is a 'rock solid' development environment.

Hi. Some people might not appreciate this message, but I think that it
is warranted. Some people have been using REALbasic since it was first
introduced as CrossBasic. Other people didn't get a chance to use it
until it was renamed REALbasic. And then there are a bunch of people
who picked it up sometime between then and now.

What is the draw to REALbasic? Is it cross-platform? Is it rich
framework? Is it easy to learn?

I'd like to know why everyone is using REALbasic. There are other tools
out there. There are other languages out there. Why REALbasic?

With all the problems that REALbasic has, it still keeps a following.
There is still some use for it, and it appears to be getting better in
each build, even if it isn't always apparent.

I'd like to hear from you. If you'd email me off the list and tell me
why you're using REALbasic and what you like and what you don't like
about it.

There is a group of us out there that is unhappy with REALbasic and
would turn to another product immediately if it just offered that one or
two things that we're using from REALbasic. What is that one piece for you?

I can't wait to hear,
