Yes, if you want to include the source code of the Java VM or compiler or any of the other bits in your app then it is GPL (eg: if RS wanted to make a RB to Java backend compiler under GPL they could do so).
However, anything you write using those tools isn't covered by the license. That would be like saying images edited by The Gimp had to become GPL.
Continuing to use the Java VM and compilers as you have done is quite safe.
It is not the same as linking libraries into a C program, as recently discussed for MySQL. The inclusion is different.
