RIGHT, this is MUST BE done by IDE vendors.
In fact Lynn and me do warn periodically RB and REV lists during last 3-4
years about mySQL trap. Few years ago we was sometimes even blamed that we
say not true or such.
I am glad that more and more developers recognize this and start warn each
other :-)

I believe it is not true, Dean.
IMHO, Rev do the same mistake as REAL.
On the other hand note, that REV users much more stay close to Linux and ISP
usage, so they use more often free mySQL installations from ISP.
But that *is not* desktop applications!

No.
They have price about $595-$4995 for mySQL UNLIMITED server.
this is price PER SERVER, PER YEAR.
https://shop.mysql.com/enterprise/
Let me again repeat, this is price PER SERVER.
And let me repeat my 3 years old statement.
REALbasic/Revolution/VB6/... Developers are APPLICATION developers.
you developer Applications to be sold by MANY copies.
So if you want sale 100-1000 copies of your app, you need pay:
$60,000 - $600,000 to mySQL company.
Want to pay almost zero comparing to above and get faster database with much
better integration to REALbasic? Take a look on Valentina database and
Valentina Server Embedded.
