Rosetta console app run from Intel GUI?

As the subject says - anyone tried building a PPC console app and  
invoking it as a shell process from an Intel GUI?

Whilst a bit expensive in space, this would be one way to provide a  
database conversion from the old to new formats, for use by Intel apps.
