now, I tried what was in the thread you pointed to and it returns a
result...however: completely different (to my eyes) to what I want to
find...
For my 1 GB USB-stick Windows and Mac OS X system-utilities both return
076C01034623 as serial number, while the GetVolumeInformation-Function
returns 16C918EC (HEX) and 382277868 (Integervalue) as result for the
VolumeSerialNumber.
Xchecking with the 'dir' command under windows the HEX-value returned
from the function is the same as the volume-id, which - as far as I
understand - means, that this is the serial-number that is assigned by
the system when the drive is formated; it is not the hardware serial
number I am looking for...
