Doesn't work for me - with Flip4Mac installed, QuickTime Player still
doesn't open the ASF files downloaded from that camera - and it
doesn't seem to like http:// streams anyway (telling me the URL is
invalid).
The only app so far that appears to work with it is VideoLAN Client.

The Flip4Mac WMV codec claims to support ASF. From reading about it
it seems that it's just an encapsulation of a WMV protocol. You
can't embed it into your application, but if you dont mind making
it dependent on a third party quick time plugin this might work:
