I have been off the list for several months because of vision impairment as a result of multiple retinal detachments. I am no authority on the matter but I thought I would share what little I know with the list. Apple does a lot on the software side for individuals in my situation but apparently nothing on the hardware side. So, on that alone, if you can't touch type you have a problem. After a couple of tries Apple support recommended:

Their pc Vision Board II works fine with the Mac once you get use to the command key with a Windows symbol on it and in the "wrong" place. It is about $90.

A keyboard is also apparently available from:

This URL along with

http://gallery.bcentral.com/GID5125152P4047738-Marking-and-Labeling/ Zoom-Caps-Black-on-White.aspx

have stick on labels for the laptop. Both fot about $20. My wife found almost the equivalent at the Craft Section of Walmart for under $2 and they work fine and stay on.

Apple (again apparently) has nothing at all available in any of the above.

The middle URL above also has available highly thought of software for the pc.

Some other observations.

To use the Apple vision impaired software it is useful if you set it up, if possible, ahead of time for the need for it.

Also the Apple application interface (metallic silver?) is confusing for the vision impaired or at least for me. It is difficult to tell in some cases where the application skin ends and the editfield begins. It would be nice if their were more contrasting colors.

I hope this is not of use to any of you and, in any case, welcome any and all corrections or suggestions.
Carl

Always remember that 2+2 does equal 5 for extremely large values of 2.
