By default they'll be using different 3D libraries - QuickDraw3D (runs on top of RAVE) vs. Quesa (which uses OpenGL). Also keep in mind that RB's Carbon event loop behaves different than the Classic loop - timers/threads may not update the same way (IIRC, RB5 had some serious issues with a laggy Carbon event loop)
Ahh, I see. Didn't know that about QD3D and Quesa, interesting.
