only have results of a search on Apple, ie, I've never used the api

This sample code shows how to make compositing and non-compositing
Carbon windows transparent. It also shows how to create a custom
HIView-based transparent window.
This sample code has been updated to include a project that
produces a universal binary. No code changes were required for it
to run correctly on the Developer Transition Systems.
