First, I want to thank those of you that wrote to me directly
regarding this issue. I appreciate your feedback and the chance to
have a dialog with you about this.
We know the community is important to you and we appreciate that.
Upsetting you with this decision was not our goal. While we
anticipated that some of you would not like this decision, we did not
anticipate that you would react so strongly.
We are a company that has always valued the feedback of our
customers. We have heard your feedback loud and clear on this issue.
Based on that feedback, we will keep the REALbasic NUG list and the
Plug-ins List. We do feel that the forum is the better place for
discussion around games and getting started with REALbasic, so those
lists will be moved to the forum. The mailing list registration page
will be back up tomorrow.
Our goal to is grow the best possible community. There are many
aspects to doing that. One of those is providing a place for members
of the community to congregate on-line. We realize that no one
solution is perfect for everybody. Forums are right for some people
and not right for others. It's important to have the solution that is
right for you.
Dana Mason, our Marketing Manager, has taken a lot of heat on this
list over this issue. Dana posted the original message because as
Marketing Manager, communications is part of her responsibility. That
said, these decisions have all been discussed and approved at the
executive level. Please don't shoot the messenger.
The community is important. It's important to its members and
important to the success of REAL Software. We will continue to value
the community and work hard to build and improve it. Again, I
apologize for any grief this episode may have caused you. I hope you
see this change as proof that we are a company that listens.
