Thanks Tim, Yes I have gone through it and I can do lots of things in RealBasic but I think that I still need to know more about the BASIC language, maybe I don't but a nice simple textbook would come in useful. Lennox.

Hi Lennox, Not trying to be cute here, but have you worked through the REALbasic Tutorial that is included in the Documentation folder of REALbasic? It does a very good job of getting you going in small steps. Also, the User's Guide does a very good job of walking you through the control hierarchy and demonstrating the use of most controls. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any good Beginning BASIC books that are not horrifically slanted towards Visual BASIC. While it might be possible to lear using VB, it might make moving into the REALbasic world more difficult than just working your way through the Tutorial provided with the RB package and dissecting the examples provided.
